2026 Clermont Chamber Safety Council: Family and Medical Leave Act Overview

Wednesday, February 11, 2026 (8:30 AM - 9:30 AM) (EST)

Description

Enhance your workplace safety and compliance with the Clermont County Safety Council, a key monthly event hosted by the Clermont County Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation.

Held on the second Wednesday of each month at 8:30 am, this series offers a valuable platform for learning, networking, and discussing critical safety topics relevant to today’s work environments.

February Meeting

For over thirty years, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) has offered millions of workers protected leave to care for their families and tend to their own health. Enacted in 1993, the FMLA entitles eligible employees of covered employers to take up to 12 workweeks of leave per year for qualifying family and medical reasons and up to 26 workweeks of military caregiver leave during a single 12-month period. Employees who use FMLA leave have the right to go back to work at their same job or to an equivalent job that has the same pay, benefits, and other terms and conditions of employment at the end of their FMLA leave.

To help employers better understand the requirements of the FMLA, this presentation will provide a comprehensive overview of the FMLA using real world examples to highlight common compliance concerns on topics such as determining employee eligibility requirements, qualifying reasons for leave, and rights and responsibilities under the Act. We will also show you how to find the most up to date resources and information on the FMLA to help you stay in compliance.
