Position Purpose
Oversee all food pantry operations while ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for our neighbors, volunteers, staff and donors. Responsible for procurement, budgeting, quality control, compliance and reporting. Oversee building maintenance, major repairs, renovations and construction projects, capital expenditures, safety and security.
Position Responsibilities
Operations
- Develop, oversee and implement food pantry and warehouse policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with government regulations and health codes.
- Prepare and manage annual pantry budget. Design, prepare, and analyze monthly reports on food distribution, clients served, in-kind donations, and other reports. Adhere to internal controls.
- Purchase, receive, store and distribute food and other inventory to maintain food safety, meet inventory needs and ensure adequate resources for distribution.
- Supervise daily operations and support, train, and supervise pantry staff.
- Participate in Strategy Team to collaboratively identify and implement creative programing enhancements in alignment with strategic plan.
- Support collaboration between Volunteer Coordinator and pantry staff to ensure adequate volunteer and staff resources for effective distribution.
- Oversee and evaluate existing client and line management technologies and oversee implementation of new technologies to increase efficiency and cost savings.
- Lower costs and increase availability of food for distribution by managing existing relationships with Freestore Foodbank, Last Mile Food Rescue, LaSoupe etc. and cultivating new partners.
- Facilities
- Monitor equipment performance such as refrigeration, HVAC, generator etc. and coordinate required maintenance, service, repairs and replacements.
- Ensure the safety and security of everyone on the premises by developing, communicating and providing training on security, OSHA standards, fire drills, tornado drills, etc. and maintain appropriate records.
- Maintain vendor files and update as needed.
- Manage building projects and capital spending.
Position Requirements
- Minimum two years’ experience in food pantries, operations, warehousing, facilities or related. High school diploma required. College degree in relevant field preferred.
- Ability to independently set priorities to develop systems and processes that build organizational capacity. Budget-management skills.
- Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office platforms.
- A valid driver’s license and ability to travel to mobile food pantries and collaborating partners.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
