“Hope Lives Here” Community Event Brings Brown and Clermont Counties Together for Overdose Awareness, Remembrance, and Recovery
MOUNT ORAB, Ohio – Families across Brown and Clermont Counties, people in recovery, first responders, healthcare partners, community organizations, and local leaders will gather in Mount Orab for Hope Lives Here, a community event focused on overdose awareness, remembrance, education, and recovery support.
The event will take place on Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Mount Orab Park and is free and open to the public.
Hosted by On Our Way Home, “Hope Lives Here” is designed to honor lives lost to overdose, support individuals and families affected by substance use and other mental health disorders, and demonstrate that recovery is possible through community connection and access to resources.
"Hope Lives Here is about bringing our community together in a visible and meaningful way," organizers said. "We want families to know they are not alone, educate residents on how to respond to an overdose or mental health crisis, connect people with services, and celebrate the reality that recovery is possible."
The event will feature:
- Recovery speakers sharing personal journeys and experiences
- Family and loved-one perspectives on loss, resilience, and healing
- Community resource tables and a recovery-focused resource fair
- Overdose Education and naloxone demonstrations, and kit distribution by qualified partners
- Participation from local leaders and community stakeholders
- A remembrance ceremony honoring lives lost to overdose
- A community memory wall where attendees can share tributes and messages
- Live music and entertainment
- Food trucks with $10 free food vouchers
- A family zone with activities for children and families
- A visible coalition of community partners committed to prevention, treatment, recovery, and support
- A community pledge highlighting collective action and hope
Leading up to the event, a “Hope Lives Here” banner will be displayed within the Village of Mount Orab and 2931 purple flags, one for each Ohio overdose death in 2024, will be planted at the event site to help raise awareness and encourage community participation. The rates of overdose has been decreasing, but Brown County remains in the State's highest category for deaths per 100,000 population.
